MBA Project Type: Hospital/Healthcare
Project ID: 1178
Description: In this project, we analyze about the global tourism industry. Medical tourism or medical value travel is increasingly being perceived as a fresh source of foreign exchange earnings through the encouragement of cross-border patient flows for healthcare that include elective procedures as well as complex surgeries. Sharp growth in medical tourism in recent years is due to rising income levels complemented by availability of low cost quality healthcare. In India, growth of medical value travel has been phenomenal. Today, India ranks among the top 14 medical destinations in the world by volume of patients, after Thailand and Hungary.
Sustained by low cost airlines in the aviation industry and by social media, low-cost telecommunications, digitized patient records, widespread access to information through the internet and an increasingly sophisticated medical travel industry, travelling abroad for medical treatment is an appealing alternative which has made the flow of patients from developed nations to other regions an accepted norm, rather than an aberration. With healthcare costs increasing in many developed nations and the time for waiting for a procedure also increasing, medical tourism is expected to further grow
